AAP calls for doctors in every school district

The AAP, in a policy statement published in the journal Pediatrics, said that each school district in the U.S. should have a doctor to oversee health services and that all schools should have a nurse. The group recommends that these doctors have an expertise in pediatrics or be certified pediatricians, with specific knowledge on risk management, vaccinations, sports medicine and disease outbreak control.
