Eagle Ford Shale to drive Texas petrochemical industry, report says

The Texas petrochemical sector will be able to increase ethylene and finished-plastics exports by 33% by 2017 as a result of natural gas production from the Eagle Ford Shale, according to a report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. "The value and tonnage of Texas' petrochemical exports have grown over the last decade on strong global activity. More recently, shipments have soared on cost advantages and foreign markets' relative attractiveness," economist Jesse Thompson said.
