Out leader could be NYC mayoral contender

In her first year as leader, Democrat Christine C. Quinn, the first out and female speaker of the New York City Council, has managed to keep her notoriously fractious colleagues focused on her agenda and build a solid working relationship with Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Her success has raised speculation that she will be a viable candidate for mayor in 2009.
