Australia to offer an easier maths option for students

Students in years 11 and 12 in Australia soon will have the option of taking an easier maths course, causing some educators to be concerned that students who should take more challenging courses will not. The new maths course, Essential Maths, is part of the national curriculum and was designed for students who would benefit from a slower pace in maths and may have struggled in Year 10. The course also teaches students how to use maths in their daily lives.
