Hospital informs 29,000 patients of possible data breach

Gibson General Hospital in Indiana has informed around 29,000 patients about a potential data breach after a hospital laptop with personal medical information was stolen from a staff member's home on Nov. 27. The laptop, which may have stored patient addresses, Social Security numbers and other data, was used by the employee to access the hospital's EMR platform.
