Study: NP-led team effective in reducing cardiovascular risk factors

U.S. researchers found that a nurse practitioner-led comprehensive program is more effective than a usual primary care program in controlling heart disease risk factors among patients with documented cardiovascular illness. Patients who received care from an NP-led team experienced a greater reduction in cholesterol and rated their care more highly than did patients in the control group.
