Does the "Internet of things" need its own network?

Some networking experts are calling on the industry to support the concept of a separate wireless network for machine-to-machine communications as a way to boost the security of the "Internet of things." Echoing a report from French operator Sigfox that supports dedicated bandwidth for M2M, Verizon's Michael Kiss said the absence of a regular human component to the technology "presents a huge opportunity for hackers to explore and exploit vulnerabilities of the network, which could go undetected for long periods."
