"Fiscal cliff" dive is averted, but only temporarily

Congress agreed to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans and delay spending cuts slated for Jan. 2. The spending cuts are delayed for only two months and include billions of dollars in cuts to the NIH, CDC and FDA budgets. The cuts may seem remote and impersonal, but they would have a significant impact on patients, says Dr. David Katz, director of the Prevention Research Center at Yale University School of Medicine.
