NRC is urged to closely review on-site storage of used fuel

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission needs to conduct a more comprehensive review of the long-term effects of on-site storage of used nuclear fuel, according to comments filed with the NRC by the states of Vermont and New York and anti-nuclear organizations. The filing is part of the agency's procedures as it works to determine a solution for used-fuel storage. New York has six reactors, while Vermont has one nuclear plant.
