Nielsen: Consumers watch YouTube often, but spend little time there

Internet users stream an average of 13 billion videos over YouTube every month in the U.S. alone, according to data from Nielsen, making YouTube far and away the most popular platform for viewing online content. Its closest competitor, Hulu, registered fewer than 1 billion monthly streams, Nielsen found. More videos doesn't translate to more viewing time, however; the typical YouTube visitor spends about three hours a month on the site, compared with nearly 11 hours that subscribers spend watching Netflix each month.
