Excess skin remaining after significant weight loss can cause mobility problems, affect joints and interfere with balance, and it is more prone to fungal infections, says plastic surgeon Jeff Kenkel. A man formerly dubbed the world's fattest who lost more than 600 pounds wants Britain's National Health Service to cover skin-tightening surgery, but the NHS wants him to wait until his weight has been stable for two years.
