Cost estimate rises to $12.9B for La. levee project, report says

The cost of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf levee project in Louisiana's Terrebonne Parish is estimated at $12.9 billion, according to a report from the Army Corps of Engineers. The cost was estimated at $887 million five years ago, when Congress authorized the project. "We're pleased we've achieved another milestone, but the process just takes way too long," said Jerome Zeringue of Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
