China to place limits on rare earth minerals

Chinese authorities plan to place tougher restrictions on rare earth mineral mining and the levels of pollution associated with the industry. China has recently encountered fierce international criticism over existing quotas for rare earth extraction, with the U.S. threatened to launch a formal complaint at the World Trade Organization.
