Even with other inviting options in mobile, applications remain a fertile field for marketers if consumer downloads are any indicator. Apple reports that, even excluding re-downloads and updates, downloads from its App Store last year totaled nearly 20 billion, bringing the grand total to 40 billion to date and pointing to an accelerating trend.
