Nvidia introduces powerful Tegra 4 chip for mobile devices

Nvidia on Sunday introduced its Tegra 4 quad-core processor, the chipmaker's latest attempt to catch up with Qualcomm in powering smartphones and tablets. "This thing is flooded with GPU cores," said Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, referring to its 72 graphic processing unit cores that are designed to speed up performance for consumers. Nvidia also announced the Shield, a wireless gaming device.
