Why not all smart meter markets are created equally

Research shows smart meter growth continues to rise in India, Brazil and China, while North America and Europe face mounting stagnation; but experts warn that drawing parallels between emerging and developed markets is like comparing apples to oranges. According to commentator Phil Carson, advanced metering growth in the so-called "hot" markets is being propelled largely by a desire to reign in theft and corruption, while the relative absence of these issues in developed nations has led countries like the U.S. to underinvest in critical infrastructure.
