SEC nominee faces tough confirmation hearing

Mary L. Schapiro, President-elect Barack Obama's pick to run the Securities and Exchange Commission, will be closely scrutinized by the Senate Banking Committee during her confirmation hearing. Congressional leaders are taking a close look at regulatory meltdowns that may have fueled parts of the financial crisis. The hearing is scheduled for next Thursday.
