DISH Network last week bid $2.28 billion for Clearwire, topping Sprint Nextel's $2.20 billion offer, as the satellite provider continues its aggressive efforts to enter the wireless business. Clearwire plans to evaluate the offer and withhold from drawing on Sprint financing. "Spectrum is like oil, water and gold," DISH CEO Joe Clayton said after the bid was announced. DISH offered $3.30 a share versus Sprint's $2.97 bid.
