EPA: Know state, local laws when working with contaminated sites

Recent guidance from the Environmental Protection Agency advises managers and lawyers involved in contaminated sites to be familiar with the state and local laws that could affect site cleanups. Managers and lawyers also should know which governmental entities have jurisdiction over such sites, the guidance says. The EPA guidelines on institutional controls apply to cleanups including those at Superfund sites, federal facilities and sites with underground storage tanks.
