Sprint, Verizon back Windows with new phones

Sprint Nextel will release its first pair of Windows Phone handsets by the summer, in the form of unspecified HTC and Samsung Electronics models. Verizon Wireless expanded its Window commitment with the announcement that it would launch the Samsung Ativ Odyssey in "the coming weeks." Sony unveiled its 5-inch, waterproof Xperia Z device featuring a 13-megapixel camera and a Qualcomm quad-core processor. Huawei Technologies released a pair of phones, including its 6.1-inch Ascend Mate, which the Chinese vendor described as sporting the world's largest screen. And SpareOne showed a low-end phone that runs on AA batteries designed as an extra device for emergencies.
