Texas high-school seniors instructed on how to pay for college

A pilot program in the San Antonio Independent School District in Texas is aimed at teaching all high-school students financial literacy for higher education. The school district hired part-time counselors to help students fill out the free application for federal student aid, leading to a increase in the number of students planning college enrollment last year. The pilot program, which officials said could be a model for other districts, comes amid a new law requiring all public high schools in the state to instruct students on how to pay for college.
