"Call to arms": Emphasize exercise for heart health

The benefits of exercise for patients with stable ischemic heart disease are well-known, but physical activity remains "woefully underutilized" in the prevention of secondary cardiovascular disease, a group of physicians wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. William Boden of the VA Medical Center/Albany Medical College said the article was a "call to arms" and the "mantra here is that exercise is medicine."
