PiB-, florbetapir-PET yield same results for Alzheimer's diagnosis

PET imaging of beta-amyloid levels using Pittsburgh compound B or florbetapir yielded consistent results, according to a study in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. The two methods gave concordant beta-amyloid positive and negative status and comparable cortical retention ratios, the study found. "These analyses are an initial step in addressing the need for standardization of AB methodologies," researchers said.
