Government requests review of influenza research

In the wake of studies of the creation of an avian influenza strain that is easily transmitted among ferrets, federal officials have asked the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity to review the state of research on the virus. The panel could consider whether to request a publishing moratorium on avian flu transmission studies, its leader said.
