Study quantifies AF ablation complications

Five percent of patients experience periprocedural complications from atrial fibrillation ablation, and close to 10% are readmitted to the hospital within 30 days, according to a Stanford University study. Predictors of complications included sex, hypertension, lung disease, chronic renal disease and the number of AF hospitalizations, among others. Past research has found procedural complications occurred in up to 10% of patients.
