DISH's late bid for Clearwire is seen as a move for spectrum

DISH Network appears to be pursuing a roundabout strategy to secure the spectrum and network it needs for planned wireless service and perhaps video delivered over the air. That's the game plan some see behind DISH's late bid for Clearwire, improving on an offer from Sprint, which owns half of the company. The hope may be that the bid persuades Clearwire to sell DISH some of its spectrum or pushes Sprint into a partnership.
