DOD will "ground aircraft, return ships to port" if sequestration occurs

If Congress and the White House fail to halt sequestration cuts to defense, the Pentagon will have no choice but to "ground aircraft, return ships to port, and sharply curtail training across the force," said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, during a Pentagon briefing this week. At the same meeting, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta warned that the cuts would "seriously harm our military readiness."
