Group sets deadline for standards on wireless chargers

The Wireless Power Consortium -- a group of 27 firms in the consumer-electronics space -- is looking to develop the first standards for wireless chargers before midyear. Menno Treffers, the Philips executive who is chairman of the consortium, is so confident about hitting that deadline that he made an unappetizing promise if the group does not: "I will eat my hat."
