Schools seek digital labs to enhance foreign language learning

Educators say state-of-the-art digital language labs help engage students in foreign language learning, providing practice time while limiting self-consciousness, blocking out distractions and providing educators with more time to teach. Many schools are embarking on campaigns to acquire equipment for the labs, which allow students to view videos and read digital content, and often include technology that enables students to compare their recorded speech with that of native speakers, plotting differences in pronunciation on digital graphs.
