CFTC adopts protections for collateral on swaps trades

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Wednesday approved protections for collateral posted on derivatives trades, a response to MF Global Holdings' collapse, and now is considering similar initiatives for futures markets. "We are continuing to gather thoughtful input as to how we might build upon today's segregation rule to further protect customers," CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler said.
