Heart disease patients benefit from nurse-managed team care

The TEAMcare program, in which nurses working with physicians managed the care of patients with chronic conditions, led to better disease management and quality of life, Group Health Cooperative researchers reported. The study in the Annals of Family Medicine found increased medication initiation and treatment adjustments for heart disease patients taking cholesterol drugs, along with a higher rate of blood pressure monitoring.
