Nutrition-ranking firms become popular with supermarkets

More supermarkets are turning to nutrition-ranking firms such as NuVal and Guiding Stars for scores and shelf tags. Guiding Stars uses a three-star scale, while NuVal ranks food nutrition from 1 to 100. Both provide information that can help consumers make healthful food choices, said officials with ranking companies and retailers.
