Artificial disc device from AxioMed nears trial completion

AxioMed Spine expects to complete a pivotal U.S. study of its Freedom Lumbar Disc, which is used to treat patients suffering from degenerative spine disease, before the end of the quarter. The Cleveland company, which has secured $3.6 million in its latest funding round, will use data from the trial to back its FDA clearance application for the device.
