VA unveils EHR challenge for software developers

The Department of Veterans Affairs has unveiled a contest for software developers to launch a medical scheduling tool that can replace parts of the scheduling software used in the agency's VistA EHR system. Entries should be open-source and based on an open application program interface. "The competition will help us serve veterans by encouraging ideas to provide more personalized care," said VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.
