Financing, mood affect small-firm sales

Brokers are closing fewer deals on the sales of small businesses, says Carl J. Cusano, president of the New York Business Brokers Association. Buyers are worried about the economy, retirement and home-equity losses are making less investment money available, and stricter lending standards are making Small Business Administration-backed loans harder to get.
