ARB blood pressure drugs may reduce dementia risk

Researchers said angiotensin receptor blockers used for high blood pressure and heart disease may substantially lower the risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The study also found patients with Alzheimer's or dementia who took the drugs along with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors were less likely to die early or be admitted to nursing homes.
