Emerging-market sovereign bonds gain investment-grade status

For the first time, government bonds of emerging markets have collectively reached the level of investment grade. The development comes despite investor concerns about the potential for sovereign defaults. Emerging-market government bonds have gotten off to a strong start this year, with $10.7 billion in deals, according to Dealogic.
