GOP senator advises cutting Social Security, Medicare, not defense

Congress should cut entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in order to stop sequestration cuts to defense, said Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., in a weekly address. Fischer, a new member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said such domestic programs, not defense, are the cause of the government's deficit.
