Hughes scores mobile telemedicine deal with New England health group

Hughes Network Systems was awarded a $500,000, four-year contract in mobile telemedicine with the New England Telehealth Consortium, the first of its kind for the broadband satellite provider. Hughes will serve the group with 8 megabits-per-second data services for health units providing care to migrant farm workers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The EchoStar-owned company also said that last year it shipped 487,000 broadband satellite terminals as part of its Gen4 Internet service.
