Navy relaunches effort to build new presidential helicopter

For the second time in recent years, the Navy is launching an effort to build a new fleet of presidential helicopters to replace the Marine One fleet. The VXX program follows an aborted program that was shut down due to delays, higher-than-expected costs and, said a spokesman for the Aerospace Industries Association, the government's frequent requirement changes. Fierce competition is expected for the VXX contract, which focuses on improvements rather than from-scratch designs.
