More advertisers will turn to geofencing, local search and other location-based technology to draw customers through their smartphones, Anna Bager writes. Geofencing can ensure customers in a certain area are reached and local search can show retailers exactly what potential customers want when they search for it on their mobile phones. "All these developments point to a bigger goal and that is monetization," Bager concludes.
