AMA asks feds to hire external evaluator for EHR incentives

The American Medical Association has called on the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and CMS to employ an outside expert to evaluate the EHR incentive program. Hiring an external evaluator may help determine attainable measures, EHR functionalities that can be developed in a given period and reasonable meaningful use requirements, an AMA official said.
