Experts call for better mental health policies in Mo., Kan.

Health care experts in Missouri and Kansas say policy changes are needed to stop a revolving door for mental health patients and ensure people committed by the state for evaluation are kept long enough to be helped. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback endorsed adding $10 million for mental health services for the most at-risk residents. Kansas cut $14.3 million from mental health centers in the past four years while Missouri reduced funding by more than $21 million.
