Incentives program for propane mowers to be extended through 2013

A program that provides incentives for landscape contractors who turn to propane-fueled lawn mowers has been extended through 2013. The Propane Education and Research Council will give $1,000 toward each commercial propane mower purchased -- for up to 25 mowers per applicant. If you prefer to convert a relatively new mower to propane power, PERC offers $500. "Propane means savings on fuel and operating costs, and propane virtually eliminates spillage," said PERC's Jeremy Wishart. Ariens, Briggs and Stratton, Cub Cadet, Dixie Chopper, Exmark, Husqvarna, Kubota, Scag and Toro are among the manufacturers who offer propane mowers.
