Remedial education increasingly is outsourced to community colleges

As some states stop funding remedial education at four-year institutions, many universities are enrolling students who need such courses in nearby community colleges. More than a dozen states have stopped funding remedial education at four-year schools, including in Ohio where officials expect about one-third of the state's college freshmen to be affected when the new rules go into effect in 2014.
