API campaigns against RFS, backs Keystone approval

The American Petroleum Institute launched an ad campaign against the Renewable Fuels Standard, arguing that the biofuel mandate needs to be reworked as refiners are expected to hit a "blend wall" in increasing ethanol content in fuel. "[The Environmental Protection Agency] has been unable and sometimes unwilling to make it workable. That is why we need Congress to scrap" the standard, said API Refining Manager Cindy Schild. API also outlined its plan to focus on helping the Keystone XL pipeline secure approval, with Schild saying that the group has been promoting the job potential and economic benefits of the project.
