IOM expert panel to study ways to improve end-of-life care

The Institute of Medicine is convening an expert panel to review policy, financing and hospital practices and recommend ways to improve end-of-life patient care. Dr. Steve Pantilat of the University of California's Palliative Care Program says the report is welcome because there have been many improvements in end-of-life care in recent years, but challenges remain.
