More working families are too poor to meet basic needs, report says

Despite a decline in the unemployment rate, the number of "working poor" families in the U.S. without enough income to meet their basic needs increased in 2011, according to an analysis of Census Bureau data by The Working Poor Project. More parents who have been laid off from middle-class jobs are taking new jobs that offer lower pay and fewer benefits, the report says.
