NRC completes EIS for proposed reactor at Mich. nuclear plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission completed its environmental impact statement for the proposed reactor at DTE's Fermi nuclear facility in Michigan and found that the proposal would pose no imminent risk to the environment. The NRC staff and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers endorsed the final approval for the project's combined license. Certification for the design approval could come this year.
