Why summer should be a season of learning

School districts nationwide are encouraged to take advantage of time over the summer to offer innovative learning programs for students -- especially those who are at risk -- and help them as well as teachers prepare for the Common Core State Standards. Gary Huggins, CEO of the National Summer Learning Association, writes in this opinion article about the benefits of using the summer months wisely, such as curbing summer learning loss and preventing drops in test scores.
